Water is a vital necessity because if the body lacks fluids, it can cause dehydration and slow down the metabolic system in the body. So drink plenty of water to keep your body healthy and fit.
However, without realizing it we may have done the wrong way to drink water, thus threatening our body's health. Here are tips for drinking water properly?
- Sit when drinking water
Drinking while standing can harm the kidneys because the water will go straight to the bladder without being filtered.
2. Avoid drinking in a hurry
Drink sip by sip and avoid drinking a glass of water right away. Absorb slowly, swallow, then exhale and repeat.
3. Do it regularly
To fulfill your daily water needs, avoid drinking water at one time. It's better to do it periodically. For example, by drinking 1 glass of water after waking up, 1 glass of water before and after breakfast, 1 glass of water before and after lunch, 1 glass of water before and after dinner, and 1 glass before bed.
4. Avoid drinking ice water
For optimal health, drink water that is room temperature. It's even better if it's warm. Avoid drinking cold water, especially ice with a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius because it can cause contractions in digestion.
5. Drink 30 minutes before eating
30 minutes before a meal is the recommended time to drink water as it helps the digestion to work properly. Meanwhile, drinking water during or right before or after a meal can weaken digestion and make it work less effectively. Moreover, if there is too much water intake, the stomach will not have enough room to digest.
