February is known as the month of love. However, did you know that apart from being known as the month of love, there are other uniqueness about February? Here are some of them:
1. It's a New Moon

In ancient Roman times, there were only 10 months in a year, because 61 days of winter were not included in the calendar. Finally, Numa Pompilus reformed the calendar because he needed a date that could be used as a benchmark for farming ceremonies. Finally, new months were added, namely Ianuarius and Februarius. Ianuarius has 29 days, while Februarius has 28 days, with the 11th month being Ianuarius, and Februarius being the 12th month. In 45 BC, Julius Caesar reformed the calendar again, with Ianuarius becoming the first month and Februaryus the second. In the month of Ianuarius, the election of consuls was usually held, and in the month of Februaryus, the elected consul could be blessed in the ceremony of welcoming spring, which means welcoming new things.
2. Telephone Patent

In 1875 Alexander Graham Bell began making experiments that led to the invention of the telephone. Bell collected patents to solidify his invention in February 1876. It is interesting to note that just a few hours away from Bell's patent for the telephone, a scientist named Elisha Gray was also collecting patents for similar equipment. It was finally decided that the patent went to Alexander Graham Bell. Shortly after his patent was accepted, Bell displayed his patent at the 100th anniversary exhibition of the city of Philadelphia. His invention attracted great public attention and was honored for his work. Since then, February is also known as the month of the invention of the telephone.
3. Leap Year

Leap years date back to the Roman Empire. At that time, the Roman emperor ordered the royal astrologer to create a new calendar. He said that the length of time the Earth goes around the sun is 365.25 days, this number is increased to 365 days and the shortfall is combined into 1 day in every 4 years called a leap year. February is designated as the month that gets an additional 1 day in leap years. Therefore, every leap year, February has 29 days.
