Not yet over the Covid-19 pandemic, Indonesia was again shocked by another natural disaster, on December 4, 2021, Mount Semeru erupted. Mount Semeru is one of the volcanic mountains in Indonesia located in East Java Province which is often used as a place to conquer the courage of climbers, and is also one of the tourist attractions that is widely visited by tourists, both domestic and foreign tourists.
Of course, this disaster caused a lot of material and financial losses. The government was quite agile in dealing with the problem of disaster relief and management. The participation of the Indonesian people was seen to be very active from various regions.
Medion also played an active role in distributing the aid. In this case, Medion employees collected aid in the form of suitable clothes, bed sheets, towels, toiletries, sarongs, food, baby milk, and also funds to support the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase. On December 8 and 16, 2021, Wawan, a representative from Medion, in collaboration with Sinar Jaya PS Pasirian and Itik Mulia KK, who are also Medion customers, also distributed the aid to refugees affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru, at SMPN 2 Pasirian and the Pronojiwo area refugee post, Lumajang.
Currently, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has begun to shift the focus of handling the hot clouds and avalanches of Mount Semeru, Lumajang Regency, East Java, to the recovery phase. The increasing number of evacuees is now the focus of attention.
Lumajang Regent Toriqul Haq revealed that the amount of assistance in the form of logistics is considered sufficient, even strong for the next 1.5 months. The Lumajang Regency Government is currently prioritizing the relocation of new housing for the victims.
Through this assistance, the Medion family hopes to ease the burden on the victims.
