A Japanese Fisherman's Tale

peristiwa sejarahnelayan

Japanese fishermen often go far out into the middle of the ocean to catch fish. The journey often lasts for 2-3 days to reach the ideal place to catch fish. After catching enough, they would return home with the fish to sell. Unfortunately by the time they arrived the fish were already dead and the Japanese don't like to eat dead, unfresh fish.

The fishermen began to look for ways to make their fish more attractive to buyers. Finally, they decided to bring a freezer on board. All the fish they caught would be frozen in the freezer to preserve them. However, when they arrived at the market, buyers again did not like their catch because it was not fresh enough.

The fishermen then looked for ways to bring fish that were not dead, fresh, and favored by buyers. They finally brought empty barrels filled with seawater into the boat. All the fish they caught would be put into the barrel to keep it alive. By the time they reached the market, some of the fish were dead and some were still alive and limp. Ocean fish are not used to living in cramped barrels, they are used to roaming the vast ocean. Again, buyers didn't like the fish they caught.

Almost at their wit's end, the fishermen finally came up with an idea. They brought empty barrels of seawater into the boat, but this time they filled them with a small shark inside the barrel. All the fish they caught would be put into the barrels filled with seawater and small sharks.

When they arrived at the market, the fish were still alive, lively and fresh. The buyers loved the fish they caught. How did that happen? While in the barrel, the fish were always moving to avoid being eaten by the sharks. They are trying to survive.

Silence makes us dead and movement makes us alive. Problems that come into our lives are like the little sharks in the barrel. Problems keep us moving actively to overcome them. Therefore, be grateful in all circumstances, because even in severe problems it will actually bring goodness to our lives.
