On 14 September 2017, at Bale Pare Kota Baru Parahyangan, Padalarang, the Food Security and Animal Husbandry Service Office of West Bandung Regency held a socialization on veterinary drug control. The content of the event included a presentation on legal drugs, as well as how to use and store veterinary drugs properly. Veterinary drugs on the market are not necessarily all safe and legally registered. Farmers need to be observant and alert to the presence of drugs that are not legal, because they may contain dangerous ingredients and are not guaranteed quality.
Drh. Iin Indasari, Head of Disease Observation and Veterinary Drug Supervision from the Food Security Service of West Java Province, explained that veterinary drug businesses must have a veterinary drug business license, and their products also have a distribution permit number obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture. In addition, Iin also said that the government and businesses must work together in monitoring the circulation of veterinary drugs. In West Java, one of the companies that has been proven to produce veterinary drugs legally and actively synergize with the government is PT Medion.
In the event, PT Medion was invited as guest speakers, namely drh. Siti Fatimah as Technical Education & Consultation and Okky Sri Purwanti, Apt as Corporate Legal. In her presentation, Siti said that every business actor must understand the regulations related to the circulation of veterinary drugs to avoid illegal drugs and how to store veterinary drugs so that their quality is maintained. This is what PT Medion consistently does in conducting its business activities. Siti also presented material on how to store vaccines properly.
The participants, consisting of business owners and breeders from West Java, found this event very useful to be aware of the circulation of illegal veterinary drugs. In addition, the material on drug and vaccine storage also provided new knowledge that can be applied in running their livestock businesses. With the awareness of livestock business actors, it is hoped that the circulation of illegal veterinary drugs can be stopped.
